Review: BookCase.Club - September 2015

Book Case is a one stop monthly subscription service for book lovers. Each case will contain a selection of handpicked books based on your preferences, and a fun bookish treat you're sure to love.
Our team consists of certified book worms and we have a long history in the world of literature so you can be assured that the books we select for you each month will be a delight to read.
BookCase.Club has partnered with Books for Keeps and every month will donate one children book for every active subscription. So not only will you be receiving your own great books, you would also be helping send one to a child that might not otherwise have a book to read.

The boxes are available for in 6 different categories (Paranormal Romance, Sci-Fi/Fantasy, Young Adult, Mystery/Thriller, Children and Romance) and start as low as $9.99 (+ $5.00 shipping) per month.

What's inside the BookCase.Club Box?
In the mystery boxes, BookCase.Club sends two handpicked books from one of five categories of your choosing. In my case, I received the Romance box
BookCase.Club doesn't come with an info card detailing the items included, instead they include a handwritten letter! Such a thoughtful and unique idea.

Inside, the books were packed so that their spines were together and they wouldn't bend or get damaged.

I received Who Asked You? by Terry McMillan and The Major's Daughter by J.P. Francis. Plus a bonus, Do It Now! Journal by Pat Croce.

Who Asked You? by Terry McMillan

20257055Kaleidoscopic, fast-paced, and filled with McMillan’s inimitable humor, Who Asked You? opens as Trinetta leaves her two young sons with her mother, Betty Jean, and promptly disappears. BJ, a trademark McMillan heroine, already has her hands full dealing with her other adult children, two opinionated sisters, an ill husband, and her own postponed dreams—all while holding down a job delivering room service at a hotel. Her son Dexter is about to be paroled from prison; Quentin, the family success, can’t be bothered to lend a hand; and taking care of two lively grandsons is the last thing BJ thinks she needs. The drama unfolds through the perspectives of a rotating cast of characters, pitch-perfect, each playing a part, and full of surprises.
Who Asked You? casts an intimate look at the burdens and blessings of family and speaks to trusting your own judgment even when others don’t agree. McMillan’s signature voice and unforgettable characters bring universal issues to brilliant, vivid life.

The Major's Daughter by J.P. Francis

18667981Like Snow Falling on Cedars, a stirring tale of wartime love.
April, 1944.  The quiet rural village of Stark, New Hampshire is irrevocably changed by the arrival of 150 German prisoners of war.  And one family, unexpectedly divided, must choose between love and country.

Camp Stark is under the command of Major John Brennan, whose beautiful daughter, Collie, will serve as translator. Educated at Smith and devoted to her widowed father, Collie is immediately drawn to Private August Wahrlich, a peaceful poet jaded by war. As international conflict looms on the home front, their passion blinds them to the inevitable dangers ahead.

Inspired by the little-known existence of a real World War II POW camp, The Major’s Daughter is a fresh take on the timeless theme of forbidden love.
