Aimee’s wedding is supposed to turn out perfect. Her dress, her fiancé and the location—the idyllic holiday ranch in Brazil—are perfect.
But all Aimee’s plans come crashing down when the private jet that’s taking her from the U.S. to the ranch—where her fiancé awaits her—defects mid-flight and the pilot is forced to perform an emergency landing in the heart of the Amazon rainforest.
With no way to reach civilisation, being rescued is Aimee and Tristan’s—the pilot—only hope. A slim one that slowly withers away, desperation taking its place. Because death wanders in the jungle under many forms: starvation, diseases. Beasts.
As Aimee and Tristan fight to find ways to survive, they grow closer. Together they discover that facing old, inner agonies carved by painful pasts takes just as much courage, if not even more, than facing the rainforest.
Despite her devotion to her fiancé, Aimee can’t hide her feelings for Tristan—the man for whom she’s slowly becoming everything. You can hide many things in the rainforest. But not lies. Or love.
Withering Hope is the story of a man who desperately needs forgiveness and the woman who brings him hope. It is a story in which hope births wings and blooms into a love that is as beautiful and intense as it is forbidden.

Suspense. Fear. Adventure. Love.
Withering Hope is such an emotionally charged story. At first I was scared to read it because I knew it was going to be one heck of an adventure, but I'm so glad I did. I couldn't have enjoyed it more!
Tristan is a pilot who has demons and secrets, and he's flying Aimee to Brazil to marry the man of her dreams. However, things change drastically when the plane crashes in the middle of the Amazon rainforest.
From that moment on Withering Hope turned into a touching love story of survival and hope. With no food and communication with the outside world can Aimee and Tristan survive the horrors of the forest?
After days, hope of a rescue becomes a distant thought. Trying to survive with what the have and facing nature together grows them very close. But, are they strong enough to survive? Will someone rescue them?
"I thought the bond between us here in the rainforest was one of friendship. But maybe it's more. Maybe I feel more for this man who's not only the strongest person I've met, but who also seems more determined to keep me alive than himself."
Withering Hope was a beautiful heart-wrenching love story of two people enduring the most fearful experience of their lives. And what a ride it was! I couldn't help myself but fall in love with Tristan and Aimee. And that epilogue? Dear God. I was in tears in the metro and I didn't care. In fact, I re-read it at home and cried some more. It was perfect.
“Because I’ve found something here I’ve never had before. Hope. You gave it to me. And I have you here. You’re more than I’ve ever had, and more than I’ll ever wish for.”
Layla is a truly talented and gifted author. She wrote a powerful and emotional book that will stay in my heart for a long time.
Don't miss out on this breathtaking story, take the journey through the Amazon forest and discover it yourself!
